Bill Morton started his career as
a social worker, specialising in child protection
and in developing programs for adolescents at risk.
After then working as a teacher and journalist in
Tonga, he began his career in international
development as regional coordinator of Oxfam
Australia’s Horn of Africa program. He later worked
for an international development consulting company
with a focus on South East Asia and the Pacific. He
joined the North-South Institute in 2004, where he
is Senior Researcher, Development Cooperation. He
leads the Institute’s work on international aid
policy and aid effectiveness, and on strengthening
Canada’s aid program. His main interest areas are
governance of the international aid architecture,
aid and development effectiveness, Southern
perspectives on aid effectiveness and civil society
roles in development cooperation.
