The North-South Institute, University of Ottawa Sign Partnership Agreement

OTTAWA — The North-South Institute and the University of Ottawa signed a partnership agreement this afternoon that will see the organizations working together more closely over the course of the next five years.

As both organizations share complementary strengths, the partnership will allow them to continue building upon their expertise by collaborating on research, sharing resources, fundraising, and further engaging students.

The partnership aims at enhancing opportunities for collaborative projects between the Institute and the University’s School of International Development and Global Studies, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and the Centre for International Policy Studies.

“The North-South Institute has already developed vibrant working relationships with these academic centres of excellence at the University of Ottawa,” said NSI President and CEO Roy Culpeper. “This partnership will deepen these relationships by addressing some of the most urgent challenges facing the world today.”

Renowned for its policy-relevant research, The North-South Institute will be offering placements to Master’s and post-doctoral level students from the University of Ottawa, allowing them to apply their education to current issues on international development and foreign affairs agendas.

The agreement will also see the partners collaborating on events and activities such as speakers’ series, expert panels focused on development, and the North-South Institute Forum.
