This project brought bring
key findings and
recommendations from
the larger research
reports back to the
Ontario communities
host farm workers
for discussion with
local community
groups, local
governments and
employers. The
workshops also
provided an
opportunity to
increase visibility
of seasonal workers
and the local groups
that support them,
in the broader
community. Local
groups were able to
share their
experiences and
identify some areas
where they might
collaborate on
initiatives that
could support
migrant workers’
social inclusion in
host communities.
The third component
of the project, a
workshop targeting
capacity-building
priorities
identified by the
community-based
voluntary
organizations, aimed at enhancing
the capacity of
these groups to
assist and advocate
for migrant workers
and engage in
constructive
dialogue with other
community partners.
This project was made possible through funding provided by The Ontario Trillium Foundation.
