What challenges do
women face in
accessing justice
and security in
places like
Afghanistan, Haiti
and the occupied
Palestinian
territories? How
are they different
from the challenges
faced by men? What
can national
governments and the
international
community do to make
sure women and men
have equal access to
these important
services?
With
partners in these
three countries, NSI
is addressing these
questions and
sharing the results
with policy makers
and non-governmental
organizations
domestically and
internationally.
In 2005,
CIDA commissioned NSI to
review emerging donor
thinking on fragile
states, to review policy
frameworks and
programming tools used
in related areas such as
peacebuilding, and to
draw on those analyses
to help it strengthen
the gender dimensions of
its own fragile states
strategy. Using the
papers NSI produced, a
workshop was held in May
2006. NSI (Salahub)
produced a Report which
specifically identified
the need for further
research in this area.
