Fairness in A Shifting World

Edited by Clyde Sanger and Rowena Beamish

The first volume in the annual series launched by the Institute, the Canadian Development Report (CDR) 1996-97 explores the evolving dynamics of Canada’s relationships with the developing world. CDR 1996-97 measures the “fairness” of Canadian policies and relations with the countries and peoples of the South, against the backdrop of the rapid transformation of human and economic development indices in the South over the past two decades.

CDR 1996/97 explores the pressing issues of economic reform, trade, jobs, civil society, gender, ethnic diversity, population, and human rights, and the link between media coverage, development issues, and disaster reporting. Includes 40 pages of statistical analysis.
