Published: April 23, 2012

Summarizing the findings of NSI’s report, Freedom through Association: Assessing the Contribution of Female Police Staff Associations to Gender-Sensitive Police Reform in West Africa, this policy brief identifies the ways that female police staff associations in Anglophone West Africa can improve the situation of women in police services by empowering them and helping them become better police officers.  In turn, this contributes to improved policing services and greater security through gender-sensitive policing and increased operational effectiveness.
